Tom 02/27/2008

I wish I could meet Tom.

Who is Tom?

Well, currently I am in the hospital. I’m not that sick—just a minor hitch along the road of life.

Tom had more than just a hitch. I am sitting in the hospital lobby listening to Tom’s wife on a cell phone call  with Tom’s sibling.  I can’t tell if it’s Tom’s brother or sister.

I'm really not that nosey. She was yelling so loud half the hospital could hear her.

Tom is an alcoholic.

Last Friday Tom was drinking and driving. His son and another boy were in the car. They were in an accident. The two boys died. Tom is in surgery—he may die too.

The wife lives with Tom and Tom’s mother. According to the wife, Tom’s mother babies Tom. Every day Tom’s mom makes him breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Tom’s mother never makes the wife a meal. She tells her to go out and get something if she wants to eat.

Last Thursday Tom threw a gabage can at his wife in a drunken rage. After that he urinated in the bath tub.

Tom’s mom hates the wife--The wife is 52, Tom is 32. Here are a few excerpts from the cell phone conversation:

“Teach him, don’t enable him”

“Proverbs XXX-- let no man come between a husband and wife”

“Tom is a grown man, I am a grown woman.”

“If Tom lives, and he wants to be my husband, he will go to AA!”

The 52-year-old wife left the lobby.

I’m going back to playing Mario 2 on my computer.
